I was born and raised in Kansas and studied English and forensic criminology at Wichita State University. After acquiring my Bachelor’s degree in English, I considered a career in law enforcement as a behavioral analyst and profiler before earning a Master's in English from Wichita State and then a Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M University.

For ten years, I was an associate professor of English at a college in Texas, where I taught a variety of writing and literature courses. Now I’m a full-time author, sharing a cute little Victorian-style home called the Storybook House with my husband Bill and our cats. I enjoy writing, reading, traveling, spoiling my niece and nephew, and singing karaoke.
